Day 2 Keynote Speaker     Jonathan Fanning    9:00-10:00      

Jonathan Fanning is the author of several books, including Who are you BECOMING? and has been coaching leaders – from Fortune 500 executives to sole proprietors – for over 15 years. If you are familiar with TED talks, Jonathan was voted the best speaker at a recent TED conference. A traumatic car accident and several other “Frying Pan” moments in the middle of Fanning’s career as a management consultant to Fortune 500 companies triggered a quest for a deeper sense of purpose, meaning, and significance. “Who are you BECOMING?” and “Who are you helping others to BECOME?” became central to Jonathan’s life, businesses, and speaking. He has also built several successful businesses, including a national children’s fitness franchise and Entrepreneur Adventure, which helps young people experience business start-up and ownership. He has inspired and challenged audiences with his message in 49 states and on 3 continents. Jonathan lives in NY with his amazing wife and two angelic daughters!
 Semler obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a focus on moral distress from Johns Hopkins, and the Advanced Training in Healthcare Ethics certificate at the University of Washington. She is also a Certified Healthcare Ethics Consultant. Her current work focuses on scarce resource allocation during the pandemic, addressing moral distress in staff, improving end-of-life care, and advocating for vulnerable populations. Foundations. Her research focuses on healthcare equity, spirituality, and culturally responsive
care at the end of life.
Dr. Gloria has written several peer-reviewed chapters on spirituality in two publications: the award- winning book, Womanish Black Girls: Women Resisting the Contradictions of Silence and Voice (2019) and The Palgrave Handbook of Workplace Spirituality (2018). She is the author of The African-American Spiritual and Ethical Guide to End-of-Life Care: What Y'all Gon' Do With Me? now in its 9th edition.
The Guide provides helpful information for healthcare decision-making on advance care planning and end-of-life care options. Her work was cited in the 2015 Institute of Medicine Dying in
America Report. Dr. Gloria has also authored a cultural competency training manual for social service professionals as well as several inspirational books.
Dr. Gloria's work is highly respected nationally by healthcare organizations, hospices, churches, and communities. She has provided educational presentations to hundreds of groups throughout the U.S. and Canada. She has presented her research and work internationally and nationally at conferences an other professional events, including the Research Association Minority Professors (RAMP), International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry (ICQI), The National Association of Social Workers (NASW), National Association of Multicultural Education (NAME), and The National Council of Black Studies (NCBS). She has also been prominently featured in several national telecasts and training videos and has also been guest on various television and radio shows, including NPR affiliate, KCUR, KCPT, and e-Care Diary.
